Inspired by the forests of Finland and designed in Oulu, Korpi is an automatic watch featuring the high-quality Miyota 8N24 automatic movement. The watch is crafted using Finnish birch for the wood parts and stainless steel for the metal components. It is protected by scratch-resistant sapphire glass. As entrepreneurs, we have long been passionate about watches, admiring stylish and meticulously crafted timepieces. Automatic watches are intriguing due to their mechanics, which is why Korpi has been a special project for us. We wanted to introduce to the market a automatic watch that reflects our style, one that is undeniably stylish and that we would gladly wear ourselves. Korpi is a completely unique model, whose design process started last year. More about it in this post.

The Journey of Korpi to Our Collection

The process always starts with an idea. The idea of a wooden automatic watch had been maturing for quite some time, and gradually, we began to delve into the practical aspects of preparing the model and contemplate potential designs. Wooden automatic watches weren't really on the market at that time, so we essentially started the design from scratch.

One of the most important elements in designing the new model was the choice of materials for the watch. Initially, we narrowed down our options to those we desired, and through experimentation and testing, Finnish birch emerged as the chosen material. Birch, in both appearance and feel, suited our new model perfectly. Some ideas that arose during the design phase stumbled right from the start, and we had to abandon some inventions even at the final stages as we wanted Korpi - the watch to be modestly a perfect package without compromises.

One special feature of the watch is the semi-skeleton glass, which reveals the movement inside the watch. We believe that observing the movement of the mechanism is best done without having to remove the watch from your wrist. That's why we designed the dial in a way that captures your attention to the movement every time you check the time.

Once we had the final version in our hands, we began photographing the watch and preparing the materials. Soon after, we were able to start preparing for the pre-sale launch. After the design, experimentation, and preparations, Korpi is finally ready to charm the Finnish people and represent everything we at Havu want to be: straightforwardness, elegance, and individuality.
