Are HAVU watches made of real wood?
Yes. The dial, strap links and case back of HAVU watches are made of real wood. The wood isn't a coating or a printed pattern but a structural material. The watch case and the strap end pieces are stainless steel, which ensures the watch's durability.
Which types of wood are HAVU watches made from?
We use curly birch, flame birch, birch, oak, walnut and ebony. The birch we use, including curly birch and flame birch, is Finnish wood. Every piece of wood has its own unique grain, so no two watches are exactly alike.
What does stabilized wood mean?
Stabilized wood is wood whose pores have been filled with a stabilizing agent and hardened. The treatment makes the wood harder, more moisture-resistant and more dimensionally stable than untreated wood, and it doesn't move with temperature or humidity. We use stabilized wood in the dials of the Loimu and Revontuli models, among others.
Does a wooden wristwatch stand up to everyday use?
Yes. HAVU watches are designed for daily wear: the case is stainless steel, the glass is scratch-resistant sapphire and the wooden parts are coated to withstand moisture. We give our watches a five-year warranty.
Is a wooden watch suitable for someone with allergies?
A wooden watch is an excellent choice for someone with allergies. Wood is a very skin-friendly material and suits people with allergies particularly well. A wooden strap is therefore often a good alternative if a metal bracelet causes skin irritation. In our watches, the case back is made of wood too.
What kind of glass is used in HAVU watches?
We use sapphire glass. Sapphire glass is clearly harder than mineral glass and won't scratch even in heavy use. It's the same type of glass used in far more expensive watches.
What is apple leather?
Apple leather is a composite material based on a biomaterial made from a side stream of the apple industry. In addition, the material contains polyester, polyurethane, wood powder and colour pigments. The material looks and feels like leather, but contains no animal-derived leather.
Is apple leather vegan?
Yes. HAVU's apple leather products contain no animal-derived materials in any part. The apple leather collection includes laptop bags, wallets and belts.
Does apple leather need special care?
No. Apple leather doesn't need oiling or waxing. Wipe the surface with a soft damp cloth when needed and let it dry at room temperature.
Size, wear and care
How do I choose the right watch size?
Watch size is given as the diameter of the dial in millimetres. 32 mm and 38 mm are the smaller sizes, 40 mm and 42 mm are medium and 44 mm is the largest. If your wrist circumference is under 16 cm, 32–38 mm usually fits best; a 16–19 cm wrist suits 40–42 mm, and anything larger suits 44 mm.
Which strap width fits which watch model?
Strap width depends on the size of the watch. 16 mm fits the models Kielo (32 mm), Loimu (32 mm) and Revontuli (32 mm). 18 mm fits the models Aava (38 mm), Aura (38 mm) and Virta (38 mm). 20 mm fits the models Aava (42 mm), Aura (42 mm), Kallio, Korpi, Loimu (40 mm), Revontuli (40 mm) and Virta (42 mm). 22 mm fits the models Harju and Vuori.
Can I change the strap myself?
Yes. All HAVU watches have quick release pins, so you can change the strap in a few seconds without any tools. We also sell a strap change tool that makes swapping easier on older models.
How do I shorten a wooden strap to fit?
Links are removed from a wooden strap with the shortening tool that comes with the watch. The tool pushes out the pin connecting the links, after which the link can be removed. You can shorten the strap at home in a few minutes.
Are HAVU watches water resistant?
HAVU watches are water resistant to 5 ATM. In practice, the watch handles handwashing, rain and splashes. We don't recommend wearing the watch while swimming, in the sauna or in the shower, as temperature changes and prolonged exposure to moisture strain the wood and the seals.
Does the watch come with a battery included?
Yes. All quartz movement HAVU watches come with the battery already installed, so the watch is ready to wear straight out of the box. The Korpi model has an automatic movement that doesn't use a battery at all — it's powered by the motion of your wrist.
How long does the watch battery last?
A watch battery typically lasts 1–3 years. When the battery runs out, you can have it replaced at your nearest watch shop that offers battery replacement.
How do I care for a wooden watch?
Wipe the watch with a dry or lightly damp soft cloth. Don't use cleaning agents, solvents or an ultrasonic cleaner. Avoid leaving the watch in direct sunlight or in a hot car for long periods, as wood doesn't like extreme temperatures.
How do I choose the right ring size?
We give ring sizes as the inner diameter in millimetres, so size 18 means an 18 mm inner diameter. Measure the circumference of your finger by wrapping a narrow strip of paper around it, then pick your size from the size chart. If you're between two sizes, choose the snugger one — a ring feels a little looser once you wear it.
Ordering and delivery
What delivery methods do you offer in Finland?
We deliver orders via PostNord, Posti or Matkahuolto, and you can choose the option that suits you at checkout. The cheapest available delivery method is always free. Orders are shipped from our warehouse in Oulu.
How quickly is an order delivered?
We send all orders by the next business day at the latest, so the delivery time within Finland is 1–2 business days. For pre-order products, the delivery time is stated separately on the product page.
Do you ship abroad?
Yes. In addition to Finland, we deliver to 19 European countries, and delivery is free to all of them. Delivery to Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia takes 1–3 business days. Delivery to Sweden and Denmark takes 2–5 business days. Delivery to Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czechia, Germany, Hungary, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia and Spain takes 2–8 business days. We also ship to the rest of the world, in which case the shipping costs and delivery time are shown at checkout before you confirm your order.
Can I get an engraving on a watch?
Yes. You can add an engraving to your order on the product page before adding the item to your cart. The engraving is made on the back plate of the watch.
Can I order a product gift wrapped?
Yes. You can add gift wrapping to your order on the product page, and we'll gift wrap the product for you.
Returns and warranty
What is the 100-day satisfaction guarantee?
You can return a product within 100 days of receiving it, even if you've already worn it. Returns are free. The satisfaction guarantee is a promise we give voluntarily, and it goes beyond the statutory 14-day right of cancellation. Please note that engraved products cannot be exchanged or returned.
How long is the warranty on HAVU watches?
HAVU watches come with a five-year warranty. The warranty covers manufacturing defects and faults not caused by the user. The watch battery has a six-month warranty. The warranty is an extension to the statutory liability for defects, which is at least two years in the EU.
What should I do if my watch breaks?
Contact our customer service by email at info@havuwatches.com. Your order confirmation serves as the warranty certificate, and we keep your watch's warranty details in our system for the duration of the warranty. We'll repair or replace a product covered by the warranty free of charge.
Do you service watches after the warranty period?
Yes. We also offer watch servicing and battery replacement after the warranty period has ended. Just get in touch with our customer service and we'll give you a free service estimate for your watch.

What is Havu Watches?
Havu Watches is a Finnish company founded by brothers Eetu Kylmäluoma and Teemu Kylmäluoma in Oulu in 2019. We design and sell watches, jewellery and accessories made from real wood, as well as accessories made from apple leather. The company is based in Oulu and its business ID is 3012936-6.
Where are HAVU watches made?
HAVU watches are designed in Oulu and made by our long-term manufacturing partners in Shenzhen, China. The movements come from Switzerland and Japan.
What does the Design from Finland label mean?
Design from Finland is a label granted by the Association for Finnish Work, showing that a product has been professionally designed in Finland. The label has been granted to HAVU's watches, jewellery and bow ties. It tells you where the design comes from, not where the product is made.
