Ring size guide

A perfect fit ensures that you enjoy your new ring right from the first try-on. This guide helps you determine the right size quickly and reliably at home so you can shop with complete confidence.

US ring sizes and millimeters – what’s the difference?

In Finland, ring sizes are based directly on the inner diameter length in millimeters (e.g., size 18 corresponds to an 18 mm measurement), while many international brands use US sizes.

This is simply an American measurement scale where sizes are marked with whole numbers and halves (e.g., 9 or 10.5). Both systems indicate the exact size of the ring, just in different ways.

At Havu, we want to make ordering as easy as possible. In our online store, rings are listed in millimeter size, which corresponds to the inner diameter of the ring. For international customers, the rings are also marked with US sizes on the packaging.

So when you order a Havu wooden ring, you may encounter both US sizes and millimeter measurements. The table below shows conveniently how the sizes correspond to each other.

US size Size (mm) Circumference (mm)
5,5 16 50,3
6 16,5 51,8
6,5 17 53,4
7 17,5 55,0
7,5 18 56,5
8 18,5 58,1
8,5 19 59,7
9 19,5 61,3
9,5 20 62,8
10 20,5 64,4
10,5 21 66,0
11 21,5 67,5
12 22,5 70,7

How to choose the right ring size?

The right fit for a ring is important for both comfort and durability. A suitable ring feels natural: it is snug enough not to slip off unnoticed, but gives enough to slide over the thickest part of the finger smoothly. When the ring fits perfectly, it’s a joy to wear every day and it lasts through the years.

How to measure ring size at home?

Don’t have a suitable ring to use as a model? No worries! Determining the right size is still easy. Here’s how to measure your finger at home:

  1. Cut a narrow strip of paper
  2. Place the strip around the finger you want to wear the ring on. Make sure it is not too tight,
    but fits comfortably.
  3. Mark precisely with a pen the point where the paper meets itself.
  4. Straighten the strip and measure the distance to the mark with millimeter accuracy, for example
with a ruler. This measurement is the circumference of the ring.
  5. Find the size corresponding to your measured circumference from the table above.
